TERMS OF TRADE

GENERAL

The items in this catalogue are offered at net prices for cash. With the exception of University Libraries and similar institutions, all customers will be billed on a pro-forma invoice basis. Postage and packing will be included in the total shown. Receipts will be included with the purchase on request. Any book found not to be as described may be returned to us at our expense within four weeks of the date of delivery.

All books are insured in transit at our risk.

As Great Britain is at present a member of the EU, all 'supplies of goods' must be understood to be made in accordance with Directive 2011/83/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 25th October 20011, as interpreted by the British Parliament in the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Under the above a seller is under a legal obligation to supply goods that are in conformity with the contract made, and the purchaser has a right to cancel the contract for any or no reason within fourteen days of the goods being received. Anyone wishing to do so must return them at his own expense, though the seller must return in addition to the cost of the goods any delivery charges that he has made re-calculated if necessary to the lowest (or standard) rate (usually, in our case, second-class post or surface mail). The purchaser by ordering through this site agrees to accept e-mail as a durable medium as defined in the Consumer Contracts Regulations cited above. We have to include these legal notices, and a form notifying return, but our own rules, which are those of the Antiquarian Booksellers Association, are in general somewhat more liberal.

SECURITY

WE DO NOT ACCEPT PAYMENT by Credit or Debit Cards except via the PayPal secure server. Please do NOT send your card details to us directly. If you are eligible to remit via PayPal, and receive rich-text (HTML) e-mails, a payment button will be included on your invoice. Cards accepted via PayPal are VISA, MasterCard, (non-corporate) American Express, Discover, Switch, and Solo. All customers will be billed in pounds sterling or (if they so choose) U.S. dollars. If neither of these is your native currency, and you are paying by plastic, PayPal will convert at their current rate.

We are happy to accept payments by personal cheque in many currencies as long as they are drawn on a bank in the country of origin. Further details are given below. If you have a query not dealt with there, please do not hesitate to contact us, when we shall be happy to advise.

ORDERS FROM OUTSIDE GREAT BRITAIN

PAYMENTS FROM OUTSIDE THE EC may be made by Post Office Money order, Direct Payment through the banking system (internet payments and electronic transfers), Banker's Draft on a London account, via PayPal, or by a personal dollar cheque drawn on a United States account. In the case of Money Orders sent through the Post Office, or Direct Payments made through the banking system, kindly advise us separately of the remittance. Please also make sure that we are remitted the full amount clear of all charges.Clients paying by personal dollar cheques should add five dollars towards bank charges for conversion into Sterling. (This is not necessary if you take the PayPal option).

AIRMAIL POSTAGE is standard, and will be added to the Invoice total. Customers requiring SURFACE POSTAGE should notify us at the time of ordering so that the cost may be correctly calculated.

EC CUSTOMERS may pay by a Banker's Draft drawn on a London account, Direct Payment through the banking system (internet payments or electronic transfers), via PayPal, or by a personal cheque drawn in their own currency - in this case adding the equivalent of 7.50 to the total towards our additional bank charges. Cheques drawn in Sterling on a foreign account are not acceptable. Those making Direct Payments through the banking system should ensure that we receive the full amount clear of all charges. They should also advise us separately of the remittance.

TO THEIR OWN ADVANTAGE, EC customers are advised that VAT is charged them at source on all book purchases at the full British rate of 0% (zero percent), and further VAT will not be payable.
